Training Program Objectives
**Program Educational Goals (PEG):**
The overarching goal of the training program is to educate environmental science engineers who possess comprehensive knowledge of environmental science, have the ability to conduct scientific research, work in environmental-related governmental agencies, and provide consultancy to organizations on the sustainable exploitation and utilization of natural resources. They will be able to assess environmental risks and impacts, address issues related to the degradation of soil, water, and air, and demonstrate autonomy, responsibility, leadership, and adaptability. Furthermore, these engineers will have strong political and ethical qualities, a commitment to public service, good health, and the capability to contribute to the construction and defense of the nation.
**Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):**
1. **PEO1:** Equip students with specialized knowledge, skills, and competencies to study ecosystems, environmental indicator species, and biodiversity.
2. **PEO2:** Train students with specialized knowledge, skills, and competencies to analyze environmental parameters of soil, water, and air, addressing environmental degradation, and assessing environmental risks and impacts.
3. **PEO3:** Provide students with specialized knowledge, skills, and competencies to research and sustainably utilize natural resources.
4. **PEO4:** Equip students with political theory knowledge, national defense and security knowledge, proficiency in foreign languages, and basic IT skills as per current regulations.
5. **PEO5:** Train students to have a professional demeanor, communication skills, lifelong learning abilities, research capabilities, adaptability, and the ability to work in multicultural and globalized environments. Students will also be expected to maintain good health, ethics, civic awareness, professional responsibility, and social responsibility.
### Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
**General Knowledge**
- **PLO1:** Understand and apply basic knowledge of Marxism-Leninism, the policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh's ideology. Possess fundamental knowledge of general law, social sciences and humanities, and natural sciences to meet the requirements of professional education, maintain good health, and have the necessary national defense knowledge to contribute to the nation's construction and protection.
- **PLO2:** Proficiently use office software, and achieve a foreign language proficiency level equivalent to level 3/6 of the Vietnamese foreign language proficiency framework (B1 according to the European framework).
**Core Knowledge in Environmental Science**
- **PLO3:** Explain and apply basic principles of ecology, evaluate ecosystems, compare biodiversity levels, and use organisms as environmental indicators.
- **PLO4:** Apply knowledge of chemical transformations and impacts to develop solutions for controlling environmental pollutants.
- **PLO5:** Analyze and apply knowledge of the environment, its components, and the relationships between these components.
**Specialized Knowledge**
- **PLO6:** Analyze and evaluate the quality of soil, water, and air; manage ecosystems in the Mekong Delta; assess environmental risks and impacts; monitor and address environmental pollution issues in agriculture, industry, and urban areas, and propose solutions.
- **PLO7:** Integrate and evaluate community-based natural resource and environmental management methods, manage environmental resources on a regional scale according to sustainable development goals, assess the potential of renewable energy sources in rural areas, and propose sustainable exploitation and usage methods. Additionally, integrate social and environmental knowledge, apply indigenous knowledge in climate change adaptation, and understand sustainable development, environmental law, and policy.
- **PLO8:** Integrate and evaluate wastewater and hazardous waste treatment systems, and apply geographic information systems (GIS) in environmental and resource management.
**Hard Skills**
- **PLO9:** Apply specialized knowledge to analyze, evaluate, and forecast environmental issues, and implement measures to prevent and mitigate environmental impacts of investment projects. Students will be able to provide consultancy and participate in environmental services and protection.
- **PLO10:** Master the process of analyzing and evaluating soil, water, and air quality, as well as biodiversity levels, and develop and implement research proposals.
**Soft Skills**
- **PLO11:** Communicate proficiently in English or French, comprehend specialized literature in English or French, and use office software proficiently. Additionally, students will be skilled in presentation, use of supporting tools, confident in communication, and public speaking.
- **PLO12:** Develop independent thinking, critical thinking, lifelong learning skills, and effectively organize and work in teams by identifying roles and responsibilities of team members.
**Autonomy and Personal Responsibility**
- **PLO13:** Develop confidence, enthusiasm, passion, adaptability, readiness, and the ability to work independently while considering and listening to opposing viewpoints. Students will cultivate professionalism in work and cultured behavior, complying with the law.
- **PLO14:** Develop the ability to independently update new information in their field of specialization.
